Subscription and Refund Terms

The short version

• Everything is paid through the Apple App Store; we never see your card details.
• Free trials and subscriptions renew automatically. Cancel with Apple at least 24 hours before the end and you won't be charged.
• Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
• Once digital content is supplied, the 7-day withdrawal right does not apply; Apple handles refunds under its own rules.
• Launch offer: pay for Yanyou Plus before 23:59 on 31 January 2027 (Taiwan time) and get the "Launch member pin"; it is taken back if every qualifying paid charge is refunded.

1. Seller and payment

The seller is the operator of the Yanyou app (an individual developer; see section 1 of the Terms of Use). Every paid item is an App Store in-app purchase; Apple charges you and Apple's payment terms apply. Prices are as shown on the purchase screen (New Taiwan dollars, tax included).

2. What you can buy

Yanyou Plus (auto-renewing)

• Price test: some users see the 1-month plan at NT$290 (a separate App Store product). The price you see and buy is the price it renews at.
• Minutes are granted every 30 days. Unused minutes roll over, up to 3 times the plan's 30-day amount.
• Subscribers also get daily answers, greetings and more, as shown in the app.
• Call minutes can be used for random calls and calls with friends. Anonymous random calls are currently open only from 20:00 to 01:00 Taiwan time each night (the hours may change; the app shows the current hours). Calls between friends work at any time.
• The match filters "smokers only" and "people who are quitting only" are subscriber benefits; but while you are using quit mode yourself, "people who are quitting only" is free, no subscription needed.

Extra minutes (no subscription needed)

Extra minutes never expire and work without a subscription; while subscribed, your plan's minutes are used first.

Mist companions (buy once, keep)

Mist is free; each of the other 9 companions is a one-time purchase: Drip, Bubble, Dawn NT$90; Twinkle, Flake, Sunny NT$120; Luna, Dewy NT$150; Rainbow NT$190 (price test: some users see NT$150, a separate App Store product; the purchase screen's price applies). Invite-only companions can only be won in invite draws.

• On a new phone or after reinstalling, tap "Restore purchases" (on the plans screen and the companions screen) with the same Apple ID to get them back.

Outfit items, pets and gifts (each bought once)

Outfit items and pets are each paid for separately: NT$30, NT$60, NT$120 or NT$230 depending on the item. You can keep it or send it as a gift.

• Items live in the wardrobe of your Yanyou account; sign in to the same account on a new phone and they are there.
• A gift goes into the other person's wardrobe and is not put on automatically. A gift attached to a greeting is delivered even if the greeting is declined or expires; it is not returned.
• Items and companions have no cash value and can't be exchanged for cash, transferred to another account, or traded for anything; you get a licence to use them, not ownership (see section 11 of the Terms of Use).

What can't be bought

Achievement-only items, festival items, invite-only companions and items, companion evolution forms, and XP and levels can't be bought.

Invite draws can't be bought

Draws can only be earned by inviting friends — never bought, and no paid item can be exchanged for one. Rules and odds: section 11 of the Terms of Use.

Leaderboard prize (free promotional Yanyou Plus)

The top three of the map-contribution board each month get one month (30 days) of free promotional access to Yanyou Plus. It is not an App Store purchase: you are not charged, it does not renew, and it can't be bought. If you already subscribe, the free period starts after your current period; Apple's auto-renewal is not paused, so cancel it yourself if you wish. Full rules: section 11 of the Terms of Use.

Launch offer (until 23:59 on 31 January 2027, Taiwan time)

The offer ends at 23:59 on 31 January 2027, Taiwan time (that is, from 00:00 on 1 February 2027). We only state the real deadline; there is no limited quantity.

• Launch member pin (free gift): make a paid Yanyou Plus purchase before the deadline (a charge on the 1, 3, 6 or 12-month plan; a free trial that turns paid also counts if that charge is before the deadline) and you get one "Launch member pin", once per account. A free trial without any paid charge does not count. The pin can't be bought or gifted and is not given out after the deadline.
• Launch dawn clip (NT$30): sold only before the deadline, and only to yourself; after the deadline it is withdrawn from sale, and anyone who bought it keeps it for good. It is an ordinary paid item and these terms apply to it (including the exception to the withdrawal right in section 6 and refunds in section 7).
• A refund takes the pin back: if every qualifying paid charge made before the deadline is refunded by Apple, the Launch member pin is taken back (and comes off if worn). As long as one paid charge from before the deadline is not refunded, you keep it.
• The pin and the clip are virtual items with no cash value; section 11 of the Terms of Use applies.

3. New users and the free trial

• New users get 20 one-time uses (answers and greetings) when they sign up.
• Within 48 hours of signing up you can also upgrade to a 7-day free trial (with 150 call minutes); starting the trial doesn't take back unused one-time uses.
• One trial per Apple ID and per Yanyou account.

4. Automatic renewal

• When the trial ends it becomes the 1-month plan (NT$390; NT$290 in the price test) and you are charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
• When a subscription period ends it renews on the same plan and you are charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
• Apple charges the payment method on your Apple ID when the trial ends or the subscription renews.
• Before any renewal (including a trial turning paid) we remind you in the app, and by email to your sign-in address.
• When a plan change takes effect follows Apple's rules; the app shows the date the new plan starts.

5. How to cancel

• iPhone Settings › your name (Apple ID) › Subscriptions › Yanyou › Cancel Subscription, or go there from Yanyou's Settings › Manage / cancel subscription.
• After you cancel, you keep access until the period ends, and you are not charged again.
• After cancelling or expiry, items you already have (including items from achievements you reached by subscribing to Yanyou Plus) stay yours and stay wearable.
• Deleting your Yanyou account does not cancel the subscription — cancel with Apple first.

6. Exception to the 7-day withdrawal right

Yanyou Plus, extra minutes, Mist companions, outfit items and pets (including gifts) are digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, or online services completed once supplied. Under Article 2(5) of Taiwan's Guidelines on Reasonable Exceptions to the Right of Withdrawal in Distance Sales, when supply starts with your prior agreement, the 7-day withdrawal right in Article 19 of the Consumer Protection Act does not apply.

Before every purchase the purchase screen asks you to tick "Digital content is not covered by the 7-day withdrawal right once supplied (unless the law says otherwise)", you tick it again for every purchase, and we record when, which version and which product, linked to that purchase. Without ticking it, you can't buy.

7. Refunds

• Apple collects payment, so Apple handles refunds under its own rules: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or from your purchase history on iPhone. We can't issue refunds directly.
• When Apple refunds a purchase, the matching item is taken back — for example, the subscription stops or the item or companion is removed; when a gift is refunded, the item is also removed from the receiver's wardrobe.
• Launch member pin: taken back when every qualifying paid charge made before the deadline is refunded (see "Launch offer" in section 2).
• After a refund we also recalculate the progress that purchase brought: XP from it is removed, and achievement tiers you no longer qualify for (with their reward items), plus every-5-level items and evolution forms above your recalculated level, are taken back (worn items come off). We tell you in the app when anything changes. See section 11 of the Terms of Use.
• If you report a random call and we uphold the report, the minutes charged for that call come back to you as extra minutes (never expire), and a free call used that same day is restored. At most once per call.
• If a problem on our side stops you from using something you paid for, contact support and we will sort it out with you.

8. Price changes

We may change prices. If a subscription price goes up, Apple notifies you in advance under its rules and asks for your consent where required; if you don't agree, the subscription ends at the end of the period.

9. If the service ends

If Yanyou shuts down, we will announce it in the app in advance where reasonably possible, and stop sales and further renewals. When the service ends, all paid items end with it; Apple handles payments and refunds under its own rules. This section does not limit any rights you have under applicable mandatory law.
